Community Empowerment: Strengthening Neighborhoods Together

Introduction

The City of Pasco Code Division is proud to introduce a new initiative aimed at enhancing community engagement, fostering inclusivity, and revitalizing neighborhoods. Our Pasco Urban Revival Days: PUR-D initiative seeks to empower residents in areas of low to moderate income by providing vital resources, education, and support through proactive Code Enforcement engagement, education and community outreach activities.

Program Overview

Our program includes the establishment of a dedicated fund for the Code Division to participate in community events organized by others, distribute educational materials, and organize clean-up events in targeted areas. The focus will primarily be on neighborhoods within targeted census tracts stretching from the 395 to the Eastern Pasco City limit line, and from the I-182 to the Southern Pasco City limit line.

Addressing Community Needs

Proactive, personalized interactions with Code Division Officers have proven to be highly effective in these areas. Through door-to-door canvassing and community events, we aim to raise awareness about common code violations, building code requirements, and available assistance programs for elderly homeowners and low-income families.

Objectives

  • Improve the quality of existing affordable housing through maintenance and access to rehabilitation programs.
  • Provide educational materials and guidance on property maintenance best practices.
  • Facilitate dialogue between residents and city staff to address concerns and ensure access to necessary processes.
  • Connect residents to resources available throughout our community.

Expected Outcomes

  • Increased community awareness and education of city codes and public services.
  • Strengthened relationships between residents and the city.
  • Enhanced community pride, neighbor relations and revitalization of older neighborhoods.

Conclusion

This initiative aligns with the City of Pasco's broader goal of enhancing community identity, cohesion, and inclusivity. By working together with residents, we aim to create safer, healthier, and more vibrant neighborhoods where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
