Blasdel Swearing in

At a special meeting held on Monday night, the Pasco City Council appointed Melissa Blasdel to fill the District 6 seat, effective immediately. The seat was vacated on October 2 due to the resignation of Councilmember Craig Maloney. Additionally, Councilmember Irving Brown Sr. was elected as Mayor Pro Tem.

"Both Melissa and Councilman Irving have shown an extraordinary commitment and passion to serve our community. I'm confident that Councilwoman Melissa will bring a valuable perspective to the District 6 seat, and Councilman Irving will continue to provide strong leadership in his new role as Mayor Pro Tem," said Pasco Mayor Blanche Barajas.

Councilmember Melissa Blasdel will serve the remainder of the term, which expires on December 31, 2025. She brings a wealth of business experience to the Council, having opened the first My Place Hotel in the Pacific Northwest in 2014. Blasdel has also served on various local boards and places a strong emphasis on community involvement. "Giving back to the community is important to me. I want to be the solution to the problem and serve with integrity," said Blasdel.

Councilmember Irving Brown Sr., the newly elected Mayor Pro Tem, will assist the Mayor in executing official duties and assume responsibilities when the Mayor is absent. In a Council-Manager form of government, fellow City Council members elect the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem to their respective roles.
