[ARCHIVED] Pasco City Television Earns Prestigious National Honor

City Council Chambers

Pasco City Television, or PSC-TV (Channel 191 on Spectrum Cable and available online at www.pasco-wa.gov/psctv), has clinched the esteemed Alliance for Community Media's (ACM) Hometown Award for its extensive coverage of the Pasco City Council meetings.

The Hometown Media Awards, the ACM's annual awards program, celebrates and encourages community media and local cable shows aired on Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) access cable television channels. Annually, the competition receives thousands of entries, which are thoroughly evaluated by an expert panel of industry judges. Of these, approximately 150 exceptional programs are recognized with awards. These awards celebrate innovative programming that not only serves community needs and involves diverse participation, but also challenges traditional commercial television formats and pushes audiences to engage with television differently.

The Hometown Media Awards ceremony is slated to take place on June 28 at the ACM's national conference in Brooklyn.

The ACM, a national membership organization, champions, supports, and safeguards the right to media training, production, distribution, civic engagement, and education in the pursuit of amplifying diverse community voices. This is achieved through PEG Access channels and other forms of media.

PSC-TV, a component of the City's Communication Services division and a part of the City Manager's Office, has been serving the Pasco community since 2006. This honor adds to a string of national programming awards won by PSC-TV in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
