The Downtown Pasco Development Association (DPDA) and the City of Pasco have jointly announced their decision to shift the management of two community landmarks, the Pasco Farmers Market and Pasco Specialty Kitchen, to the City's jurisdiction.
This strategic move follows the announced departure of Jerry Martinez, the Executive Director of DPDA, and is seen as an optimistic stride for both entities. The Pasco Farmers Market, a cherished part of the community for numerous years, is known for its fresh local produce, artisanal items, and the lively ambiance it provides for residents to socialize and engage. The Pasco Specialty Kitchen, situated alongside the market, serves as a commercial platform for local food businesses to craft and sell their offerings.
DPDA Board Chair, Kylie Grimes, expressed her faith in the City's capacity to oversee these esteemed community establishments. "DPDA has always been a robust supporter of small businesses and the community in downtown Pasco. We are positive that the City of Pasco is well-equipped to manage these community treasures, allowing both the DPDA board and City Council to strategize a robust plan for the future."
The shift in management is expected to be fluid, maintaining the operations of the Pasco Farmers Market and Pasco Specialty Kitchen as usual under the City's direction. With proven expertise in running a comprehensive system that necessitates community collaborations, facility upkeep, and management of financial and human resources, the City of Pasco emerges as a natural contender to oversee these operations.
Adam Lincoln, Pasco City Manager, expressed his eagerness for the City to take on these new responsibilities. He shared, "The farmers market and specialty kitchen are crucial parts of our community, and we're excited to continue backing local businesses and offering fresh, nutritious food choices for our residents."
The transition will officially occur on June 1, with the City of Pasco stepping in to manage the Farmers Market and Specialty Kitchen.
DPDA pledges to ensure a smooth handover and will collaborate closely with the City to confirm that these community landmarks remain vibrant and successful.
