[ARCHIVED] New Animal Shelter Groundbreaking November 30

Animal Shelter Groundbreaking Invite

Please join the community to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new Tri-Cities Animal Shelter on Wednesday, November 30, at 10 am at 1312 S. 18th Avenue.

The need for a new facility was identified in 2016 when the Cities of Pasco, Kennewick, and Richland partnered to construct a new facility in Pasco. The existing facility is at capacity and has exceeded its useful life. The new shelter will be built adjacent to the current facility, where staff and volunteers can continue to take advantage of the existing trail system to exercise the animals.

The new Tri-Cities Animal Shelter will feature the following:

  • A pre-engineered, one-story, 9,651-square-foot building situated on a 2.5-acre site
  • Interior kennels for dogs and cats
  • Separate areas for animals and humans to meet and greet so people can spend some time with their prospective pets
  • Exam and isolation rooms for sick and injured animals
  • Four separate fenced play areas outside the building for the animals to play
  • New parking with ADA accessibility
  • Improved access to 18th Avenue

“We hope the community can come out and celebrate this wonderful milestone,” said Pasco Interim City Manager Adam Lincoln. “We especially want to thank our Tri-Cities partners for their support to make this day happen,” he added.

The City of Pasco strives to continue improving the quality of community life in Pasco.
