[ARCHIVED] Peanuts Park Request for Proposals

Noburo “Peanuts” Fukuda

DID YOU KNOW & CALL FOR ARTISTS: Noburo “Peanuts” Fukuda was a local retired railroad worker of Japanese descent. He was community-minded and spent his retirement keeping the streets of Pasco clean. Peanuts is probably best remembered for giving peanuts or full-sized candy bars to the children of Pasco; a multitude of generations remember him for this reason. He was seen all over Pasco with his tricycle, helping improve the community. To honor Peanuts, the community in 1977 named a then-new park in downtown Pasco "Peanuts Park," and the name continues through today and the recently renovated area.

The City, and the Pasco Arts & Culture Commission, are requesting proposals from experienced artists to create a physical depiction of Noburo “Peanuts” Fukuda to be displayed in Peanuts Park to ensure future generations remember Peanuts and his contributions towards #PascoProud.

More information on the proposal can be found here. Proposals are due by October 11. For any questions, please contact pashona@pasco-wa.gov or 509-537-5136.
