Amazon announced plans to open two new sites in the City of Pasco, Washington across the street from each other at 1351 S. Road 40 East and 1202 S. Road 40 East. The new facilities are slated to open in 2022 with more than 1,500 full-time employees between the two, who will help pick, pack, and ship customer orders to communities across the Tri-Cities, Washington State, and beyond, and receive an average starting wage of $18 an hour and comprehensive benefits that begin on day one, as well as the opportunity to have their college education paid in full. Amazon currently employs more than 80,000 employees throughout the State of Washington.

"We're excited to open two new, state-of-the-art facilities in the City of Pasco,” said Alicia Boler Davis, Amazon's Senior Vice President of Global Customer Fulfillment. “Pasco offers a talented workforce, and we look forward to growing employment in the Tri-City region."

These facilities will provide opportunity and help working families across our region.”

Employees at the over 1,080,000 square-foot Eastside facility will play an integral role in fulfilling customer items such as household goods, books, toys, and technology. Employees at the over 1,049,000 square-foot Westside facility will play an integral role in fulfilling larger items like paper goods, pet food and supplies, patio furniture, baby strollers, and outdoor sports equipment like kayaks, skis, and fishing gear, enabling faster shipping times on customer orders of larger items.

A job at Amazon can be a springboard to an Amazon career or other opportunities. In 2020, Amazon promoted more than 35,000 employees in its operations network and continues to invest in the long-term career success of employees inside and outside of the company.

“Next year we will begin hiring for a wide range of roles, everything from receiving and stowing inventory to shipping customer orders and supporting network logistics,” added Boler Davis. “Amazon offers opportunities for professional development and encourages current employees as well as interested candidates to consider building a longer-term career with us.” 

Investing in employees at Amazon Operations

On top of Amazon’s average starting wage of $18 per hour, the company also provides full-time employees comprehensive benefits from day one, worth an additional $3.50 per hour. They include health, vision, and dental insurance, 401(k) with 50% company match, up to 20 weeks paid parental leave, and Amazon's Career Choice program, in which the company will pay full college tuition for its front-line employees as part of $1.2 billion investment to expand education and skills training benefits for its U.S. workforce.

In 2019, Amazon committed $700 million to providing 100,000 employees with access to upskilling programs through 2025. Amazon was recently ranked #2 on the Forbes World’s Best Employers list.

Investing in communities where employees live and work

Amazon's fulfillment network supports businesses of all sizes worldwide through its Fulfillment by Amazon offering, and many of those local organizations are based right here in Washington State. More than 46,000 small and medium-sized businesses and independent authors in Washington are growing their businesses with Amazon. In 2010-2020, Amazon invested more than $129 billion in Washington State, including infrastructure and compensation to our employees. As a result of Amazon’s investments in Washington, more than $112 billion has been added into the state GDP.

Job candidates must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent to be considered. All interested candidates need to apply online where they can indicate a shift preference and select an appointment time to attend an upcoming hiring event and orientation. Shift schedules will vary.
