[ARCHIVED] Cooling Centers Open

Heatwave

In response to the high temperatures forecasted for the remainder of this week, as well as the National Weather Service’s continued heat advisory, the City of Pasco has designated the First Avenue Center, Martin Luther King Center, and Mid-Columbia Library's Pasco Branch as cooling centers beginning today through Friday, July 2.

Residents should continue to take extra precautions while working or spending time outside. Strenuous activities should be rescheduled to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing when possible, and drink plenty of water. As a reminder, young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Car interiors can reach incredibly high temperatures in a matter of minutes. Check on your neighbors and loved ones, as well. 

The First Avenue Center’s Cooling Center will be open Tuesday – Friday, 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, and is located at 505 N. 1st Avenue. 

The Martin Luther King Center's Cooling Center will be open Tuesday- Friday, 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm and is located at 205 S. Wehe. MLK is staffed by the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Cities. 

The Pasco Branch of the Mid-Columbia Library System will also be available during normal business hours, Monday through Friday from 11:00 am - 7 pm and is located at 1320 W Hopkins.
