The Pasco City Council is seeking community-minded residents who wish to play an active role in making Pasco a better place to work and live by serving on the Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Commission (IDE Commission).

In 2018, the Pasco City Council approved Resolution 3820, reinforcing the City’s commitment to being an “Inclusive City” and creating a community Inclusivity Commission (now called the IDE Commission). The Resolution declares the City as “…committed to embracing diversity and promoting equality among our workforce, residents, businesses, and visitors…”
The Resolution further provided for a seven-member commission to assist the Council in its efforts to promote inclusivity in Pasco. The Commission is charged to “conduct activities… identify means… and make such recommendations to the City Council for action, education, and guidance to foster an environment that includes, accepts, respects, and appreciates all members of our community.”
Also, the City Council recently passed Resolution 3968 which called for the City to “engage with the community in open and honest dialogue to shape the future of the City and increase cultural competence and understanding across the City, especially with people of color who have been subject to historic inequities and injustices, to meet the goals of Resolution 3820 of embracing diversity and promoting equality.” The IDE Commission would serve a primary role in facilitating that dialogue.
Mayor Saul Martinez will appoint the members of the IDE Commission with confirmation by the City Council. Commission members must be residents who have lived within the Pasco City limits for at least one year, or who currently own a licensed business operating within the City.
