[ARCHIVED] Pasco City Council Regular Meeting Highlights

City Council Chambers

The Pasco City Council, in the Regular Meeting of February 3, had a few items for consideration. The highlights:

  • The main item for consideration was a resolution for the adoption of the update for the Pasco School District’s Capital Facilities Plan into the City’s Comprehensive Plan, which was approved 5-1 (Councilmember Alvarado was absent). The District’s Capital Facilities Plan serves as the basis for the collection of a school impact fee on new home construction in the City. This impact fee on new home construction, unchanged since 2012, is $4,700 per new home and $4,525 per multi-family unit.
  • The City Council also approved changes to the City’s Planned Unit Development regulations. Planned Unit Developments can include a variety of housing types and are often maintained by a homeowner’s association. In addition to the housing types, a benefit of PUDs is that they provide additional community amenities such as open space, parks, and gathering spaces for the homeowners within the development.
  • The Council opened and continued a Public Hearing on the formation of a Local Improvement District (LID) for the construction of a new sewer line between Burns and Harris Roads in the Broadmoor Area. The Public Hearing was continued to the March 2 meeting to allow City staff time to gather more information on the alignment and costs of the sewer line on the affected properties in the LID.

The City of Pasco strives to continue improving the quality of community life in Pasco.
