The Pasco City Council, in 2018, approved lifting the ban on the use and sale of personal fireworks and adopted state standards for allowed fireworks. However, many fireworks are still prohibited in the City and times of allowed use are limited.
Basically, nothing that "goes up or blows up" is allowed in the City. Violations can result in a $250 fine and confiscation of the illegal fireworks. The Pasco Police will be increasing enforcement of fireworks prohibitions this year.
Firework types that are allowed include:
- Cone/cylindrical fountains
- Smoke devices
- Sparklers
- Ground spinners
- Wheels
Use of legal fireworks are allowed only at these times:
- June 28: 12:00 PM - 11:00 PM
- June 29 - July 3: 9:00 AM - 11:00 PM
- July 4: 9:00 AM - 12:00 AM
- July 5: 9:00 AM - 11:00 PM
Please avoid using fireworks around dry grass or vacant lots. Please keep some kind of basic fire suppression tools on hand, like a garden hose, a bucket of water or sand, or a shovel.

“The fireworks regulations are a pragmatic approach to current attitudes about fireworks that balances safety and enforcement,” said Pasco Mayor Matt Watkins.
