Revitalizing the Heart of Our Community: The MLK Community Center Renovation

Welcome to the official webpage dedicated to the transformative renovation and expansion of the Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Community Center, a vibrant cornerstone of the City of Pasco since 1976. Located on South Wehe, the Center is embarking on an exciting journey of renewal, aimed at blending its rich heritage with modern enhancements to serve the evolving needs of our diverse community better. The $6.5 million project is being funded through a $1 million capital projects appropriation from the state Legislature during the 2021 session, $3 million in federal money and $2.5 million from the American Rescue Plan Act.

In partnership with Architects West, we are set to not only refurbish the existing 22,000-square-foot facility but also to expand its capacity and enrich its amenities. March 8 & 9: Interactive sessions with Architects West at the Center, featuring info boards, survey pamphlets, and "dot" boards for feedback on preferred amenities at MLK Center.
March 16: An Open House to showcase the feedback received so far and to continue the conversation.
March 22 & 23, April 5 & 6: More opportunities for on-site input and updates on the project.
April 13: A session for community members and special interest groups to review feedback with Architects West and City representatives.
May 4: Join us at the Cinco De Mayo festivities for the final day of feedback collection.
May 24: Architects West and City representatives will present the conceptual design to the public.

Throughout this period, we will be continuously engaging with the community, gathering your feedback, and keeping you informed through updates on our website, social media platforms, and direct City Council updates.
