The Inspection Services Department is committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, habitability, and code compliance throughout our city.
We are dedicated to delivering timely, thorough, and fair inspections, coupled with efficient permitting processes and reviews, creating a constantly improving customer experience. Through continued education, integrity, professionalism, community partnership and outreach, we pledge to continuously improve our service and promote a prosperous and sustainable City of Pasco.
Building Division
The Building Division has a crucial role in monitoring, overseeing, and ensuring the safety and compliance of construction and development within the City of Pasco.
- Educates the public on minimum fire and life/safety requirements.
- Reviews all projects to ensure minimum building, fire and energy codes are addressed.
- Processes building permit applications.
- Conducts building and fire inspections on permitted work.
- Monitors all construction projects within the City of Pasco to ensure all current requirements adopted by the State Building Code Council are met.

Code Division
The Code Division was created to ensure the City of Pasco stay clean, safe and maintain a healthy living and working environment. The Pasco City Council authorizes the Code Division staff to enforce the Pasco Municipal Code (PMC) through education, inspections and formal notices to those remaining violations.
- Work with residents to meet requirements in the Pasco Municipal Code as adopted by the City Council.
- Manage the City of Pasco Residential Rental Program to ensure rental housing is licensed and meets minimum habitability standards.
- Reduce blight and substandard conditions which can lead to slums and degradation of neighborhoods.
- Arrange temporary housing for individuals whose rentals are sub-standard and connect to resource agencies.
- Order and arrange abatements of dangerous structures and fire hazards.
- Work with property owners, resource agencies and homeless individuals to remove unauthorized encampments on private property.
- Inspect and certify junk vehicles to aid property owners in their disposal.
- Achieve a safe and healthy community through citizen engagement and education.

Business Licensing
Business Licensing is responsible for regulating and overseeing businesses operating within the City of Pasco. Business Licensing facilitates and manages the process of issuing business licenses, rental licenses and Special Event permits.
- Educates the public on the State and City licensing process.
- Ensures all Licenses (including but not limited to Businesses, Daycares, Special Events, TNC's, Itinerant/Stationary Vendors and Rentals) meet the minimum State of Washington and City of Pasco endorsement requirements.
