3. Who do I contact about debris in the road?

To report debris in the road call the Field Division at (509)545-3463.

4. Where do I go to pick up bid documents?

A contractor can purchase a set of plans through the Engineering Department. Plans are also provided to local and regional plan centers for viewing. These include: Tri-City Construction Council, DJC Plan Centers, and McGraw-Hill. In order to submit a bid proposal, a contractor must be prequalified (Pasco Municipal Code 14.10), and must have obtained the plans from the City.

1. Why doesn't the City clear the snow from my driveway and sidewalk after plowing?

Our primary responsibility at the City is to ensure that the main roadways remain safe and accessible for everyone. While we understand the inconvenience of snow accumulation in driveways and sidewalks, providing individual snow removal services would not be practical or financially sustainable. Our focus remains on maintaining public safety and effectively managing city resources.

2. Why not plow to the center?

Plowing and piling snow into the center of a street creates a safety hazard. The freeze-thaw cycle creates a bigger challenge when the melting snow freezes on the road surface during the evening. Traffic flow is restricted by eliminating a portion of a driving lane, and it creates sight obstructions for low ground clearance vehicles.

3. Can I park my car on the street?

Yes, on designated streets where parking is normally allowed. However, if parked on the street, your car could inadvertently be surrounded by a snowbank following plowing operations. Maneuvering a snowplow in and out between parked vehicles can be very dangerous, and it is not an efficient way to plow snow. If you have the opportunity to avoid parking in the street, it is greatly appreciated and encouraged.

4. Why does it seem like residential streets are plowed less frequently?

The City oversees more than 600 lane miles of roads, which presents a significant challenge given our limited staff and equipment resources. Priority is given to main routes, many of which include multiple lanes and turning lanes, requiring round-the-clock attention, especially during ongoing snowfall. Our commitment is to ensure safe travel routes for all residents. Please be assured that we strive to address lower priority streets as promptly as possible, weather and operational conditions permitting.
