- Announcements -

 

PLAYGROUND RIBBON CUTTING: The City Council and Park Board will be holding a Ribbon Cutting for the new playground located at the West end of Chiawana Park. Chiawana Park is located at 2020 Rd 88, Pasco. The event will take place this Friday, June 16, at 2:00pm. Hope to see you there.


RESERVE A PICNIC SHELTER: Summer Vacations are just around the corner. Reserve a picnic shelter today and enjoy the day at one of your local Pasco Parks. You can check availability and reserve your shelter online at www.pascoparksandrec.com OR you can come into the recreation office located at 525 N. 3rd Ave., Pasco.


- Special Events & All Age Programs -

 

SOUNDS OF SUMMER; Summer Concert Series: Come join us on Fridays throughout the summer from 6:00-8:30pm. From 6-7pm there will be information booths, bounce houses, food and park games. The music will then start at 7pm and run until 8:30pm. Grab some food from the vendors, pull out your lawn chair and kick back, relax and listen to the “Sounds of Summer”. FIRST CONCERT DATE: June 23;    LOCATION: Volunteer Park;    BAND: Ruido Instinto;  


TRI-CITIES GEOCOIN CHALLENGE 2017 – FIRE & ICE OF THE MID-COLUMBIA: It’s a modern day treasure hunt! During this event participants will travel around Pasco, Richland, Kennewick, and West Richland searching for geocaches. Once you have found all the geocaches and code words, present the completed entry form to receive the pieces or your GeoCoin. KIWANIS PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Enjoy good food, good company, and a morning at Memorial Park as you prepare for the parade to arrive. START TIME: 7:00 am;   LOCATION: Memorial Park, Kiwanis Shelter;   DAY/DATE: Tuesday, July 4


KIDS STREET DANCE: Come join the fun as you wait for the parade to arrive. The street dance will take place in front of the parade announcer’s stand located at Memorial Park on the corner of Shoshone and 14th Ave. A family friendly way to meet others, enjoy the holiday and just have fun as you wait for the parade. Members from the Dance Connection will be present to help lead the dances and prizes will be given to those that are showing their July 4th spirit through dance. TIME: 9:15am;   AGES: All; DAY/DATE: Tuesday, July 4th


HAPO’S GRAND OLD 4TH PARADE: What better and more traditional way to celebrate Independence Day then to watch a 4th of July parade! Join the City of Pasco and HAPO Community Credit Union in honoring and celebrating our country by watching the parade at 10:00am on Tuesday, July 4th. The parade will progress from the corner of 4th Ave and Sylvester in Pasco West on Sylvester to 14th and then South on 14th past Memorial Park and the parade announcer’s stand to Clark St.   


GRAND OLD 4th - THIRD ANNUAL CARDBOARD REGATTA: Aspiring boaters and engineers of all ages, put your creativity in gear, collect your cardboard and recyclables and start building your boat for this year’s Grand Old 4th Cardboard Regatta! This is an exciting and literal sink or swim event. Participants must build a boat with cardboard, duct tape, and recyclable material that holds 2-6 people and then race them across Memorial Pool. Will you be the winner this year? Or will your boat win this years “Titanic” Award?    DAY/DATE/TIME: Tuesday, July 4, 12:00noon;    LOCATION: Memorial Pool (1520 W. Shoshone, Pasco);    FEE: $7;    PROGRAM#: S200 (Youth), S201 (Adults)


ADULT 5v5 SOCCER TOURNAMENT: Get your team together, play some 4th of July Soccer, Support Camp Patriot and have a chance to win the $500 and Trophy 1st Place prizes. Registration Deadline is Tuesday, June 27. Pool play will take place Sunday, July 2 and Tournament play will take place on Tuesday, July 4th. Register at www.pascoparksandrec.com, Program #S140. TEAM FEE: $200;  LOCATION: TCYSA Soccer Fields, Next to GESA Stadium. Schedule will be sent to team captains after registration ends.


RED, WHITE AND BOOM SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT: Baseball/Softball and America go together like ice cream and apple pie. Come and enjoy a 4th of July Softball Tournament and play for the chance to win Combat Softball bats. You will also be helping a good cause at proceeds benefit Camp Patriot. Registration Deadline is Tuesday, June 27! So register your team today at www.pascoparksandrec.com , Program # S554.  First round play will take place Saturday, July 1 and Championship Round will take place Tuesday, July 4. TEAM FEE: $100, LOCATION: Pasco Sporting Complex, softball fields;  Game Schedules will be sent to team captains after registration ends.


CAMP PATRIOT SHOW & SHINE CAR SHOW: The Camp Patriot Show and Shine car show will take place starting at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, July 4th in the north parking lot of the Pasco Sporting Complex Softball Fields. There will be Food Vendors, cars, trucks and a variety of Vehicles. A variety of prizes will be awarded. If you have a vehicle you would like to show, please complete the registration form located at https://wa-pasco2.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/View/58621.  FEE: $10 per vehicle in advance, $15 at the gate. FOOD VENDORS & INFLATABLES: Besides the sports tournaments and the Car Show there will also be food vendors onsite and wet and dry inflatables at Softball field #5 for all to enjoy. LOCATION: Pasco Sporting Complex, 6520 Homerun Rd. Pasco, WA


ENTERTAINMENT AND FIREWORKS SHOW: The gates to GESA Stadium will open at 4:30pm this year. The Concessions at the stadium will be open with food and beverage and beer sales. Entertainment will start at approximately 5:15pm with a mariachi music. At 6:30pm the band Design will begin their performance of a variety of popular music from the 60s to today. At 9:30pm the music will end, all will be welcomed, the National Anthem will be sung and then at 10:00pm the Fireworks show will begin.

SWIM LESSON SESSION #1: Summer is here so its time to sign your child up for swim lessons! Registration for session #1 begins June 22 online at www.pascoparksandrec.com (starting at 6:00am for Residents, 12:00pm for all others) or in-person at the recreation offices located in Pasco City Hall (starting at 8:00am for Residents, 12:00pm for all others). FEE: $26R/$35NR. *$4 Discount for Season Pass Holders;   SESSION #1 DATES: June 26-July 7;   TIMES: Various AM and PM times available.


SWIM TEAM: If you have not yet signed up for one of the summer swim teams at Memorial Pool, do not fear, you still have time! Buy your season pass to Memorial Pool & Aquatic Park and save on Swim Team Registration Fee. Swim team practice starts next week so register today at www.pascoparksandrec.com.  Swim Team Season: June 19 - August 3

MEMORIAL POOL & AQUATIC PARK SEASON PASSES! For a summer of fun enjoying the waterslides, kid’s pool, spray park, diving board, lap pool and more, stop by the Recreation Services Offices located in Pasco City Hall or Memorial Pool & Aquatic Park to purchase your pass today. FEE: Adult: $70Res, Youth & Senior: $45Res, Family (up to 5): $160Res with additional family members above 5 at $30 each. PRE-GUARD PREP 1 – LIFEGUARDING TOMORROW: Thinking about becoming a lifeguard, but still too young? Get a taste of what lifeguarding is like by participating in Pre-guard Prep. POOL SHELTER RENTALS: Would you like to have a Party during open swim? Get your shelter package and save! Party Package includes one pool shelter rental and 10 swim passes. TIME 1-4PM: $60;  TIME 4-6PM & 6:15-8:15PM (Sat): $50; TIME 1-6PM: $70


RENT MEMORIAL POOL: If you have a large group (school, club, church, reunion, etc.) you may want to rent the whole facility and have Memorial Pool to yourselves. Rental times available throughout the week, call the Recreation office for details, 509-545-3456. FEE: $200/hr (For up to 300 people) + $100 Refundable deposit.

TENNIS CAMP: This is a terrific program to introduce youngsters to the game of tennis. Junior size racquets and tennis balls will be provided. The classes will be fun filled withy games and contests. Children should bring water, towel, and wear tennis shoes.  LOCATION: Chiawana High Tennis Courts;   FEE: $38Res/$48 NR;   DAY/DATE: Mon-Thur, June 19-29;   AGE/TIME: Ages 5-8 (S409), 8:00-8:45 am;  Ages 9-12 (S411), 9:00 – 9:45 am.

- Teen Programs –

 

PAINTBALL MADNESS: Pasco Recreation is teaming up with Red Dot Paintball to bring you a great package. 2-hour session that includes, protective gear, mask, hopper, air tank, 200 rounds and more. Sign up through Pasco Recreation Services and then show go to Red Dot Paintball on Tuesday, June 27 at 10am and they will be ready for you. LOCATION: Red Dot Paint Ball, 3430 Beardsley Rd, West Richland, WA;   FEE: $30R/$38NR.

WOMEN’S SUMMER LEAGUE BASKETBALL: Are you looking  for an opportunity to stay in shape, meet up with friends, keep your skills sharp through the summer? Pasco Parks and Recreation is hosting a women’s summer basketball league. Register at www.pascoparksandrec.com.   AGES: 18+;    TEAM FEE (S224): $275;  PLAYER CARD (S225): $15/player;    DAY/DATES: Wednesdays, June 28 - August 16;    TIME: 6:30-8:30pm


FOOT CARE FOR ADULTS: This program is designed to provide preventative maintenance and education to Franklin County and Burbank residents who are 60 years of age and older. Care is provided by a Registered Nurse. If an abnormality is detected, you will be referred to your physician or other social services organization. Call 509 545-3459 to see if you qualify for this program.   AGES: 60 and older;    DAY/DATE/TIME: Day/Date/Time Vary Call for appointment days and times;    LOCATION: Pasco 1st Avenue Center;    FEE: Donation;  NOTE: Funds for the Franklin County and Burbank Foot Care program are administered by Southeast Washington Aging and Long Term Care. Those that do not qualify for this program may choose to participate in our fee based program, call the Pasco 1st Avenue Center at 509 545-3459 for more info. 


- Senior Services -


MEALS ON WHEELS LUNCHES: Enjoy a delicious lunch. Reservations are required 24 hours in advance and may be made by calling 509-543-5706. *$2.75 is the suggested donation for those ages 60+ for the meal. DAYS/TIME: Monday – Friday, 11:45am – 12:45pm;   LOCATION: 1st Avenue Center, 505 N. 1st Ave., Pasco, WA;   


HAPPY FEET - Free Foot Care (Donations Accepted)!: If you reside in Franklin County or Burbank and are over the age of 60 you might qualify for free foot care. (This program is funded by SE Washington Aging and Longer Term Care and Participant Donations). If you do not qualify for the HAPPY FEET Free Foot Care Program not to worry, we also have a Foot Care for Adults (Ages 18+) Program, Cost is $30.  For information on either program please call (509) 545-3459 for more information.
