[ARCHIVED] City Council Vacancy Update

The Council sought applicants from District 4 to fill the vacancy after the death of Councilmember Mike Garrison in late July. The outreach effort led to eleven district residents applying for the opening. A panel of Councilmembers (Mayor Matt Watkins, Mayor Pro-Tem Rebecca Francik, and Councilmember Bob Hoffmann) then met to select the slate of applicants to be interviewed by the City Council. The interview list was approved by the full Council at the October 10 meeting:

• Reed Child
• Chi Flores
• Roberto Garcia
• Kara Kaebler
• Zahra Roach
• Simon Serrano
• Andrea Tullos

After the October 19 meeting, it is anticipated Council will officially fill the vacancy at the Regular Meeting on October 24. Per State law and the Municipal Code, this newest member of the City Council would stand for election in 2017.
