[ARCHIVED] Road 68 Construction Update

For the week of August 25-29, the contractor will be continuing to work on upgrading the existing traffic signal system along the Road 68 Corridor. The contractor will be installing emergency vehicle pre-emption devices on the traffic signals at the intersections of: Road 68/Burden, Rd 68/Argent, Rd 68/Chapel Hill, Rd 68/Wrigley, Rd 68/Sandifur, and Burden/Convention. While these are being installed, there will be single lane closures within the intersection, however, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction while this work is being performed. The new emergency vehicle pre-emption system will allow emergency vehicles to safely and easily pass through the corridor when responding.

The contractor will be installing new traffic signal cabinets and controllers Tuesday through Thursday at the following locations: Road 68/Wrigley (Tuesday), Rd 68/Sandifur (Tuesday), Burden/Convention (Wednesday), and Rd 68/Burden (Thursday). While this work is being completed, the traffic signals within the intersection will be down for approximately 4 hours, however, the intersections will be controlled with flaggers during these times. When more precise timing for the intersection work becomes available the City will provide an update on the work plan. Drivers are asked to use caution while driving through these intersections while the work is being performed.

In addition to the signal work, the contractor will be working on Monday and Tuesday to finish the prep work and pave the southern leg of the Burden/Clemente Lane intersection. While this work is being completed, the outside eastbound lane on Burden Boulevard will be closed, however, one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction at all times.
