Mission Statement

The Pasco Fire Department will provide structural collapse rescue services for structural collapse and Rapid Intervention Team incidents within the City of Pasco city limits and/or within existing auto/mutual aid boundaries, as defined by NFPA 1006 – Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications, 2013 edition, NFPA 1670 – Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents, 2014 edition, and FEMA Guidelines.

Program Goals

The primary goal is to develop a focused preparedness and response program for structural collapse related safety and incidents. Ideally the program will consist mainly of continuing education through lecture with hands on training.

Secondarily, the structural collapse program will be integrated into the current rapid intervention program to provide awareness and mitigation of and possible emergency response to structural collapse due to the effects of hostile structural fires.

The Pasco Fire Department will respond to structural collapse emergencies within the auto/mutual aid response areas of the greater Tri-Cities and provide technical support for the search of victims as deemed appropriate for the condition of the structure and capabilities.
