Mine and Tunnel Rescue

Program Mission

The Pasco Fire Department will provide technical Mine and Tunnel rescue services within the City of Pasco city limits and/or within existing auto/mutual aid boundaries as defined by NFPA 1006 – Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications, 2013 edition, and NFPA 1670 – Standard on Operations and Training for Technical Search and Rescue Incidents, 2014 edition.

Program Objectives

The primary goal is to develop a focused preparedness and response program for technical mine and tunnel rescue related incidents. Ideally the program will consist of community education and training.

The Pasco Fire Department will respond to mine and tunnel rescue emergencies within the auto/mutual aid response areas of the greater Tri-Cities and provide technical support for the search and/or rescue of victims as deemed appropriate for the incident and capabilities of the responders.
