Citizen's Advisory Committee

The Citizen's Advisory Committee meets monthly to address community concerns and assist in developing strategies for implementation of Community Oriented Policing components. The committee is tasked with reviewing police policies and providing input regarding police services, training for officers and civilians, and educating citizens about their role in a community based philosophy. This committee reports to the Chief of Police and is advisory only.

To be accepted as a nominee, all members of the committee must meet the following criteria:

  • Should reside within Pasco. This requirement may be waived for the representative of the business community, if that person owns a business within the city.
  • Will be fingerprinted and a criminal history background check conducted. No one may serve on the committee who has been adjudicated for any felony crime, any misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, or any violation, civil or criminal, involving the use of alcohol or any controlled substance.
  • Must successfully complete the Pasco Police Department's Citizen's Academy.
  • Is expected to attend at least 60% of all monthly committee meetings.

Current vacancies exist for Area 1(areas east of Oregon Street and part of downtown) and a representative from the African-American community.
