Program Mission, Goals & Benefits

The Adopt-a-Park program provides opportunities for individuals and groups to help improve and maintain the City of Pasco's parks and trails system. As volunteer stewards, you will have a unique opportunity to enjoy the results of your hard work. The program's mission is to enhance community involvement, pride, and ownership through the general care, maintenance, and beautification of Pasco's parks and trails.

You can help enhance and maintain our public parks and trails by picking up litter, pulling and raking leaves, sweeping courts and walkways, planting trees, reporting park hazards, and other projects. As a group or business, you can create a better environment for yourself and the next generation. Your volunteer efforts in our parks and on our trails:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to your community
  • Generates pride in our park system
  • Increases public awareness of the importance of protecting our resources

How to Adopt a Park

Your or your group can adopt a park or portion of a trail by volunteering. All you need to do is complete an Adopt-a-Park Application (PDF). You will then be contacted by a City of Pasco representative. Our staff will work with you to identify the project(s) that will provide the greatest benefit to the park and/or trail.

Once the adoption is approved, you're ready to start. A City of Pasco representative will be available to help you with questions and concerns, and will see to it that the Adopt-a-Park signage is displayed, reflecting your group's commitment.

If you can't make a long-term commitment, we still encourage you to volunteer! The City of Pasco's Parks & Recreation Department sponsors a number of special volunteer events that you can participate in. These include 1-time cleanup projects, plantings, and trail maintenance projects.
