Division Responsibilities

Support Operations oversees the Investigative Services and the Police Records & Services Divisions with the following units assigned to it:

  • Detectives
  • Task Force Officers (FBI, DEA, Metro)
  • Street Crimes Unit
  • Evidence
  • School Resource Officers
  • Area Resource Officers

About Captain Harpster

Captain Jeff Harpster joined the Pasco Police Department in July of 2000 after serving as a Pasco Police Reserve Officer.  He has been a patrol officer, School Resource Officer, Patrol Corporal, Detective Corporal, and Detective Sergeant.  During this time, he was also assigned as a Traffic Safety Officer and the original Special Investigative Unit for our region.

Captain Harpster was promoted to Captain in January of 2015 and was assigned to the Field Operations Division.  During this time, he served as an Incident Commander for the Tri-City Regional SWAT team.  In December of 2019 he was assigned to the Support Operations Division where he oversees the Detectives and Police Records & Services divisions. He is also a Commander for the regional Special Investigative Unit.

Captain Harpster holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University.  He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Session 279, and the Northwest Law Enforcement Command College. Captain Harpster has attained the Career Level Executive Certification from Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission, and the Independent Investigation Team Qualified Lead Investigator Certification from Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
