The City of Pasco is excited to launch the first-ever Pasco Urban Revival Days (PUR-D) on June 8, a new initiative designed to foster community pride and connectivity through active participation in neighborhood clean-up events.
This initiative kicks off in the Terrace Heights neighborhood, incorporating the historic Kurtzman Park, setting the stage for a transformative community gathering. Thanks to a successful proposal by the city to the Planning Commission last year, the initiative is supported by a grant from the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG). The funds aim to beautify the city and strengthen the bonds among its residents.
The day will start at 8:00 AM and run until 11:00 AM with a neighborhood clean-up. Residents of Terrace Heights and surrounding areas are encouraged to volunteer to clear up litter, debris, and other environmental blights, paving the way for a healthier, greener neighborhood. This clean-up event is not just about beautification but also about residents taking ownership of their environment and working together towards a common goal.
Following the clean-up, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the event will transition into a resource fair. Here, residents can connect with various local resource groups to learn more about community services and explore opportunities for further involvement and support. It’s a great chance for residents to engage directly with organizations that contribute to the welfare of Pasco and its people.
Troy Hendren, Inspection Services Manager, emphasized the importance of community involvement in his statement, "This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to come together, make a positive impact in their community, and connect with valuable resources. Community participation is vital in making this event a success and creating lasting change throughout Pasco."
